Dr. Thomas Frey – President, ICON Development Solutions
Dr. Thomas Frey served as Chief Operating Officer for Europe since June 2001 and has also served as Vice President of ICON Clinical Operations Europe from January 2000 to May 2001. He now holds the position of President, ICON Development Solutions.
Dr. Frey has 18 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development. He started his career in 1987 with Hoechst Pharmaceuticals. From 1995 to the end of 1999 he was Senior Director of Clinical Development Europe at Hoechst Marion Roussel. Dr. Frey received his medical degree in 1980 from the University of Heidelberg.
Dr. Peter Dewland, MD Medical Director
Dr Peter Dewland, BSc, MA, MBBS, FFPM graduated in medicine from St Thomas’s Hospital, London in 1971. After a broad range of clinical hospital posts and a spell in General Practice he entered the specialty of new drug research in 1979. Since then he has been Principal Investigator in over 100 new first in man drug studies as well as designing and performing hundreds of other research studies with a series of exciting new drugs, many of which have since become established therapies. Dr Dewland is an Educational Supervisor at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians thus helping in the training of new specialists in this discipline and he is an examiner for the Diploma in Human Pharmacology. He has a Masters in Medical Ethics and is a member of the South East Wales Research Ethics Committee.
Tom Hoggan, Volunteer Recruitment Manager
Tom Hoggan is an experienced leader and manager having previously worked within various large telecommunications companies. He is responsible for the daily supervision of the volunteer recruitment and screening teams and for ensuring that the required number of volunteers are recruited to participate in the studies conducted at our unit or partner sites. In his time managing recruitment at ICON Development Solutions he has populated in excess of 100 studies and is experienced in sourcing special or challenging populations. In addition he is responsible for the planning and implementation of successful advertising and marketing strategies contributing to the ongoing increase in database numbers and retention of volunteers.
